The venerable rally, particularly its fast and furious Ouninpohja stage, is famous for amazing leaps like this. In 2003, driver Markko Märtin set the record for the longest jump, travelling 57 metres (187ft) at a speed of 171kph (106mph).
As for this year's competition in Finland, which included 23 gravel stages totalling 201.45mi, VW’s Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia went on to win, claiming the team's fifth victory of the season. Jumping for joy, indeed.
